To Thieves or Not to Thieves. Part 2.

There really is no question. I stand by my opinion that the more chemicals we use on/in our body, the more we slow down our immune systems, damage our reproductive systems, raise our blood pressure, increase the risk of cancers and so much more. We are (mostly unknowingly) damaging our very cores with body lotion, room spray, hand soap and don’t even get me started on hand sanitizer! Killing the good bacteria our bodies need isn’t right either! It will do in a pinch here and there but we shouldn’t rely on what hand sanitizer does, or doesn’t do for our bodies.

Enter Thieves. Let me tell you a story. It’s a story I actually read in a book to boot! “Thieves essential oil was created from research based on legends about a group of 15th century thieves who rubbed botanicals on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended , the thieves were forced to tell what their secret was and disclosed the formula of the herbs, spices and oils they used to protect themselves in exchange for a more lenient punishment.

Studies conducted at Weber State University during 1997 demonstrated the killing power of these amazing oils against airborne microorganisms. The analysis showed that after 10 minutes of Thieves oil diffusion in the air, there was an 82 percent reduction in the gram positive, 96 percent reduction in the gram negative and 44 percent reduction in bioaerosol. ” **  (I had to use google even more with this stuff. Gram positive and gram negative are measurements of bacteria in the air. Bioaerosols are particles released by terrestrial and marine ecosystems.)

What’s in this antiviral, antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-infectious essential oil blend?? Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus and Rosemary. These individual oils have been tested and have proven medical properties. They are natural health products that can do so much good for your body! Rosemary was burned to ward off infections, clove buds were used to numb gums in the dental industry, lemon was used to treat scurvy, eucalyptus was used in respiratory treatments and cinnamon has been documented in herbal treatments for over 1700 years. I like what I have been reading!

How do you use it in your daily routine to keep above the wellness line? It is really easy and there are so many ways to incorporate it. Here are my favorites:

1- Thieves tea. Add 1 or 2 drops to organic honey to mix. Add your favorite tea (or use straight hot water) and enjoy.

2- Make a roller and use it on your spine and/or the bottom of your feet every day. Mine is a 10ml bottle with 20 drops of Thieves, 10 drops Lemon, 5 drops Oregano and 5 drops Frankincense. Straight Thieves will do too.

3- Room sprays. Great for bathrooms, cars, anywhere really! It isn’t super safe for cats so use care with your fur babies.

4- DIY hand sanitizer. Pure Aloe Vera gel, distilled water and thieves. Safer. Better. Smells like Christmas instead of chemicals!

4- Add a few drops to cotton balls and tuck them in your heat registers.

5- Add 2 drops of Thieves to 1 tblsp baking soda in a small bottle. Add distilled water. Shake. DIY antibacterial mouthwash!

6- Get the entire Thieves cleaning line from Young Living!

Seriously though.  If this is the recipe that saved people from the plague, my answer is always yes to Thieves!

Essentially Me.

Over here, bathing in it before leaving the house.
