DIY Make-up Remover

I don’t have the tools or skills to DIY my own makeup, to go with my last blog – I sure wish I could! Instead I am finding, or in this case MAKING my own products that I know are safe. No asbestos, no formaldehyde, no chemicals at all.

You only need 2 main ingredients. Distilled water and Fractionated coconut oil. That’s it. If you are an oily hippy like me, you add some essential oils that will not only make it smell amazing but they are also good for your skin and your overall well being. That’s right! It is totally possible to use products that do you GOOD rather than harm.

The best part about making my own make-up remover is that I can customize it for my skins needs. Is it a super dry winter? Is it summer and I want it to have heat relieving properties?? I can do these things!

The base recipe I start with is as follows:

2 Tablespoons distilled water

1 Tablespoon coconut oil

2 drops Young Living Lavender oil

3 drops Young Living Frankincense oil

1/2 teaspoon witch hazel (this mixes the oil with the water)

Shake in a mason jar. Add cotton rounds. Done.

I make this every month or so and it has saved me a ton of $$. To buy large bottles of all the ingredients to keep in my pantry it costs about $8.00. That’s without the essential oils. And no buying cheap drugstore oils to use directly on your skin! I DO NOT recommend that at all. My DIYs include the use of ONLY Young Living oils. Add in to your costs a bottle of each of the mentioned oils with the $8 of pantry products and you can make you own totally natural make-up remover for about 2 years.

Essentially Me.
